TeleMED is a complete solution for "Store and Forward" telemedicine. "Store and Forward" is in many cases a more efficient way of doing telemedicine then videoconferencing since it does not require that partners be present at a same time. "Store and Forward" telemedicine occur in three steps like described in above figure. All relevant patient documents are digitized by using various digitisers driven by WDS Technologies’s TeleMED PC based software.
- The information is compressed in one unique file and transmitted over the Internet or any other appropriate telecommunication line.
- TeleMED’s easy user interface optimises acceptance of telemedicine solution among users.
- TeleMED saves the information in the most appropriate format (DICOM for medical images).
TeleMED system has been chosen in the first telemedicine pilot project of the International Telecommunication Union inaugurated in January 98.
